Delete your account
In the app
- Optional: export a copy first, in Settings → Export synced account (JSON).
- Open Passport and tap the gear on any tab to open Settings. Make sure you're signed in.
- Under Delete, tap Delete Passport account.
- Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete account.
By email
If you can't use the app, email help@cloudytuesdays.com with the subject "Delete my Passport account".
Passport doesn't collect your name or email address, so we can't find or verify your account from an email alone. We'll reply within a few days to help you confirm the account is yours, usually by signing in to the app again with the same Apple Account, and then delete it.
What's deleted, and when
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Sign-in sessions and every connected tool's access | Immediately |
| Your account's encryption key | Destroyed immediately, so stored cards become unreadable at once |
| Synced cards, their history, namespaces, connections and Activity | Removed from live storage within 7 days |
| Database backups | Age out within 35 days |
| Deletion marker (a hashed identifier and the date, no content) | Kept 45 days, so a backup restore can't bring the account back |
| Offline copy of synced cards on this iPhone | Cleared right away, when the app signs you out |
What account deletion doesn't do
- Phone-only cards and Passport chat conversations stay on your iPhone. To remove them too, use Settings → Delete this phone's vault, or delete the app.
- It doesn't cancel your subscription. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
- It can't recall what connected tools already received. Copies they hold are kept under their providers' policies. Check each tool's memory and history settings, and remove the Passport connector there (see Disconnect a tool).
- It doesn't affect files you exported or backups you saved yourself.
If you sign in with the same Apple Account after deleting, Passport creates a new, empty account.
Deleting less than everything
- One card: swipe it in Cards, or open it and delete. It's hidden from tools immediately and can be restored for 30 days, then it's permanently deleted.
- Everything one tool saved: Connections → the tool → Disconnect → Disconnect and delete cards it saved.
- This phone only: Settings → Delete this phone's vault removes phone-only cards and the offline copy, and leaves your Passport account alone.
More detail on retention is in the Privacy Policy.
